After the Embargo Act was passed, congress realized it was a big mistake. The Americans not only avoided the act, the act did more harm to America than it did to Britain and France. This problem affected the chances of Madison winning the election of 1808. Congress repealed the Embargo Act and replaced it with the Non-Intercourse Act of 1809. This act would permit trade with only Britain and France.
The Battle of New Orleans was a great American victory over Britain. This battle took place after the signing of the Treaty of Ghent. This treaty brought The War of 1812 to an end. The general of the Battle was Andrew Jackson. This was important because he would use this to win presidency later on.
After congress passed the Embargo Acts and the war moved on, America decided that they needed to have a better transportation system. So, people started to make more and more things and the manufacturing business began to grow. This was the start of the Industrial Revolution.
